Eggbound is the condition inwhich a female goldfish becomes so full of eggs that it causes pressure to be placed on the swim bladder causing the fish to swim oddly. If the fish is eggbound it may also look swollen. Goldfish don't get truly "pregnant" because they are not livebearers.

A goldfish laying on it's side likely has a swim bladder problem.

The first thing you will need to do is test your water for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates, they should be 0, 0, and less than 10 respectively; if they are not, you should do an immediate 75% water change on your tank making sure that the new water is the same temperature as the old water. Also make sure that you add the recommended dosage of water conditioner per the instructions on the bottle.

The next thing to do is to feed your goldfish cooked de-shelled peas for the next few days. They cannot digest the outer skin, so you just want the soft insides after they are cooked. Since the goldfish is probably constipated, you can add one very small grain of Epsom salt into a piece of pea that you feed your fish as epsom salt is a natural laxative for them (but never over-feed this); do not exceed 3 days of this pea/epsom salt diet as it can harm the fish. Hopefully this will help your fish return to normal. If not, it's quite possible that the fish will not survive.
