Many guinea pigs use a "chirping" sound that is kind of like a medium-volume squeak. If the "chirp" becomes very loud and very high-pitch, I call that a "siren". A guinea pig usually yells or sirens when it wants something or when it is upset. If your guinea pig does this right before you feed it or when you open the fridge door, shake a plastic bag, ect. this means that your guinea pig is calling for you to give it food (whether it needs it or not!). If your guinea pig is frozen in place or hiding in a corner while making this noise, it may be scared. If you notice your guinea pig not moving properly it may be hurt and you should contact your vet immediately.
Usually to get attention. In the wild they make shrieks to warn other guinea pigs of movement, etc. Mine usually do it whenever they hear the fridge, plastic bag, or other food noises because they know that its snack time!
At times they can, but it really depends on the pig. Boys tend to be more vocal than girls, and at times may squeal very loudly if they are hungry or excited. They may also squeal or weak if they are trying to communicate with each other
Guinea pigs make lots of noises for many different reasons! Most of the time, they are just talking to each other--making cooing noises to comfort one another, small squeaks, etc. If a guinea pig is squealing when you walk by, then she might need attention--maybe the food is out or she is just lonely and wants to play.
Guinea pigs are usually not only noisy at night. If you'll notice, they are also very noisy at night. But they can also become more noisy because of the darkness; they are more comfortable in the darkness. The sounds your guinea pig(s) are making can mean anything. For instance:
1) The wheeking sound means that they are hungry and want found.
2) The squeaking sound (the most common one) means that they are happy.
3) The high-pitched squeaking sound means that they are nervous or scared. The louder they get, the more scared they are.
4) The male guinea pig will make a rumbling sound when it is romancing another guinea pig.
5) If they are chattering at another guinea pig, they are probably mad at it and want it to stay away.
Guinea pigs make noises to express their feelings (E.g. hunger, happiness, anger), it's their way of communicating. My guinea pig squeaks very loudly when he or she is hungry!

They squeak for many resons. If its a loud squel that can mean they're in pain. If they make a short loud squeck that most likely means there mad. and if they just make a medium squeak it means they're happy.
That is what guinea pigs do if they want attention.
