If the clots are not quite heavy and come in long intervals like after 4hours or so, then it is simply old blood leaving your body, but if they are regular for instance when you laugh, cough or sneeze you feel them come out and it makes you feel a maxi pad in less than 2hrs, then you need to be checked just incase something serious is happening.

There are different reasons that a woman may be passing blood clots after their period. It could be fibroid tumors, endometriosis, or another female issue. It is best to talk to a gynecologist to find out exactly what is going on.

You actually don't clot during menstruation, at least not that much, because menstrualblood doesn't clot like normal blood - if it did it'd be detrimental to the whole process. The clot-looking things that you see in your menstrual flow is the larger pieces of your uterus lining.

Does black blood clots instead of blood for your period mean your pregnant and if it smells really really bad?

Black blood clots do not relate to whether or not you are pregnant. You should see a doctor if the clots are bad. In general, if you are on your period/ losing blood, you are not pregnant. The smell and color mean you may have an infection It may also be an viral STI (as opposed to just bacterial).

Is it normal to have periods alternating from severe pain during and before your period the bleed is brown and lasts for a day then returns 3days later normal to large clots heavy flow very painful?

Many women have problems like this where their periods range from mild to heavy with large clots and bad pains sometimes in just one cycle. The best thing to do about it is possibly talk to your doctor about birth control to help regulate it and that will greatly reduce the flow, and pains caused by periods, and will also shorten it, too.

How can blood clotting be bad?

Uncontrolled blood clotting, where the blood clots but there is no wound to seal, can lead to death. If the blood clots are in the blood stream they can break off and cause obstructions in other organs or tissues. If the blood is extravasated, the clot can interfere with normal organ and tissue function. Systemic blood clotting, called disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), is a medical emergency that can lead to death.

What could it mean if you had two periods in 23 days and a lot of bleeding that is bright red with little clots?

Are you sure it was 2 periods. It sounds like you had a "miscarriage". I hope you are O.K. It wouldn"t be a bad idea to go to the doctor or clinic to check.

What are the big pieces of blood that come out when you have your period?

It just means that your flow is coming out heavy. Blood has a product called fibrinogen in it and that dissolves clots. If the flow is heavy then fibrinogen doesn't have enough time to act on the blood which makes it clot. However if you are experiencing very heavy clots you should contact your gynecologist. The lining of your uterus is changing and that means it's also pieces of it.
