Dogs howl as a form of communication. It is an instinctual response learned from their wolf ancestry that allows them to locate other dogs. Some dogs howl more than others and some don't howl at all.

Other dogs, such as mine, howl because loud/high pitched noises agitate them,

anger them, or hurt their ears, which is down to their sensitive hearing.

It's just their nature. It's like you screaming at a concert, for FUN!

Dogs howl because they are trying to communicate with something or in certain cases, if another dog is howling your dog is trying to state an emotion or give a hint to another dog. For example, a dog might howl at another dog because it is trying to tell the other dog it is in their territory.

Dogs often howl at high pitched sounds because they interpret them as another howl. They repond to that howl.

The high pitch frequency of the sirens affects nerves in their brains that when fired, cause a primal instinct of howling as seen in wolves and coyotes.

A siren is similar to the sound made by howling wolves and dogs are simply responding by answering back. It is not because the sound is painful..

Why do Siberian Huskies love to howl?

They are dogs. Like all dogs, it is a natural, or inate, behavior amongst our canid friends (By SammytheHusky) Huskies do not "love" to howl, but they howl instead of bark because they are more related to wolves than other breeds. WOLVES DO NOT BARK, but Siberian Huskies sometimes bark, even though Huskies usually howl.

How loud can beagles bark?

Beagles generally do more howling than barking. Yes, the bark is annoying- but the howling is much worse. Beagles will howl at just about anything- people walking by, strange noises, or because they feel like it. The only way to stop a beagle from howling is to train it to lay down on command. Beagles cannot howl when laying down. I do not know if bark collars work, but sonic bark machines can help. Basically, beagles are not good as pets. They are hard to train, escape often and are bad for rummaging through garbage. They also howl a lot, and will upset neighbors. Such a pity, as they are certainly a handsome dog.
