Molecules on the other hand has a smaller electrostatic attraction towards each other because their electro negativity are closer in value. Keep in mind that when the boiling is reached, ionic compounds actually break apart since they are not really a real bond to begin with, therefore, it is still a physical property.

An ionic bond is an extremely strong bond. As a result of it's strength in bonding, it takes more energy to break those bonds. Thus, in order for an ionic solid to melt it requires more energy to disrupt the bonds necessary for the ionic solid to become a liquid.

Ionically bonded compounds usually have higher boiling points than purely covalently bonded compounds, because the ionic bonds are usually stronger than intermolecular forces between molecules in covalent bonds, and the ionic bonds have an inherently three-dimensional character since each ion in an ionically bonded compound has attractions to several counter ions disposed around the ion in space. However, three-dimensional covalent bonds, such as those in diamond, also result in compounds with very high boiling points.
