If they weren't inset, the map would have to include the majority of North America (excluding Mexico). At this point everything would be so small that it would be hard to list anything besides the names of the states. Unless you have a really large piece of paper, a map like this wouldn't be of much use.
Because it simplifies their inclusion and readily indicates that they are off the map.
They are too far away from America to be put on the map how all of the other stats are.
they place them in boxes because they are so far away from the united states. if they were to show them in exact location the other 48 states would be extremley small
why does alaska and hawai have to be on the it maps
because it is part of the USA
because they're different countries.
The reason why Alaska and Hawaii have to be shown on the inset map because it shows the WHOLE USA.
Hawaii and Alaska.
Parts of Alaska are north from Hawaii.
Shone = shown
Hawaii isn't usually shown on maps of North America because it is so far away from the mainland. If it were in its proper place, there would be a lot of empty Pacific Ocean on the left part of the map. Hawaii and Alaska are often placed in two insets.
Alaska and Hawaii 1959
Alaska, although it may seem like it is Hawaii. Alaska is much farther west than Hawaii, if you look at a globe, not a map.
