Why do men ask how to understand women?

Two reasons spring to mind:

1. Men ask how to understand women because they don't understand women and seek guidance on the subject of how women think and behave.

2. Men use professed ignorance about women as a pick-up line, for example, a man might ask a woman he finds attractive for her advice on understanding his sister's point of view on something, or on what his sister might consider a pleasant gift to receive for a particular occasion.

The idea is, the woman is flattered to be invited to give her opinion on a worthwhile subject and considers the man a caring type to want to please his sister. She might even agree to accompany the man on a quick shopping trip to look at brotherly-type gifts, followed by unbrotherly-type drinks or dinner.

Note of Caution: It is necessary to actually have a sister in order to use this line; otherwise you'll need to invent a female cousin. Do not use your mother or female boss or colleague for this purpose. If you don't know why, you really do need lessons on understanding women.
