they groom each other to keep themselves clean they aren't able to take 2 showers a day like most people so they need another way to stay clean :> Grooming involves removing potential parasites from the hair, untangling knots and is also used in courtship rituals.

because a human is descended from a monkey, a monkey is cousins with a chimpanzee, if you see what i mean, and in that case a chimpanzee must have a brain or else we would not have one

Most primates are social, and social primates groom each other. Grooming removes ectoparasites such as ticks, or any other insects hiding in the fur. Also, it is a means of bonding.
