Why do mosses and liverworts need to live in very moist places?

Answer:
To get nutrients from the ground. You see, moss is nonvascular which means it needs to be close to the ground to collect the best nutrients to keep it alive.

Also, the sperms only mode of transportation is by water to fertilize the egg. There are no insects to help it spread its genes.
