no, i did a science project using different liquids to see wich one would make metal rust the fastest and the coke caused the 2nd most amount of rust.

A chemical called Naval Jelly, which was invented by the Navy during World War II to get rust off ships, also contains phosphoric acid. So the rumor started that since Naval Jelly and Coke both have phosphoric acid in them, Coke can remove rust.
There's a lot more phosphoric acid in Naval Jelly than there is in Coke. If you spill Naval Jelly on your hand and don't get it off it will eat right through; if you spill Coke on your hand and don't get it off you'll have a wet, sticky hand. Coke also contains a lot of water, and water causes rust.
There is a rust-removal trick that works with Coke, though. Old-time mechanics who were faced with the problem of getting an old engine from a junkyard apart would take the heads off and dump cola into the cylinders. There's just the right amount of phosphoric acid in Coke to make that work after a few days. You could use Naval Jelly, but you have to thin it down to get it to go into the little crevices of the engine and, by the time you get it thinned out enough, the concentration of phosphoric acid is about the same as what's in Coke. Besides, there's always a Coke machine in the corner of a mechanic's shop.
