oxygen or (o2) is needed for respiration in all life, whether it plant or animal we all use it. when you breath in air the oxygen that enters your avioli or little air sacks in your lungs is absorbed into the blood stream by capillaries.

the oxygen is taken around your body to react with glucose (from food) to create energy, the bi products of this reaction are carbon dioxide (co2) and water (h2o)

we then give this energy of in many ways whether it be kinetic, thermal or chemical.

i hope you found this helpful

Because it is the gas that their cells live off of. without oxygen their cells die.

Is there a life that doesn't need oxygen?

Yes. There are organisms called anaerobic bacteria which do not need oxygen. To some organisms, called obligate anaerobes, oxygen is actually toxic. The first living things on Earth were obligate anaerobes.

Which atmosphere gas is essential for human survival?

Although many would suggest oxygen, and this answer is true for all larger animals, a review of all living organisms suggests some that live in the absence of oxygen:anaerobes some of which substitute sulfur for oxygen in their life processesfacultative organisms

Why are plants important to the survival of other organisms?

The reason why the food that plants make is important not only to the plant themselves, but to other organisms, is because the nutrients that the plant makes from photosynthesis not only helps the plant but other organisms that feed off of the plant and the plant's nutrients.

Does fossilization need oxygen to occur?

Most organisms we find in the fossil record depend on oxygen to survive, but it is not necessary in the actual process of fossilization. In fact, a lack of oxygen would actually improve an organism's chance of being preserved, as it would hold back decay.

How can a body of water can be depleted of its oxygen?

Water can be depleted of it's oxygen by a number of different ways. Short of putting the water in a vacuum and "sucking" the dissolved oxygen out, oxygen-breathing organisms such as fish take oxygen from the water through respiration, for example. It is unlikely a large body of water to become completely deoxygenated due to the presence of photosynthetic aquatic organisms (plants) and the fact that oxygen is also dissolved in the water at the water's surface.

What do organisms do with the oxygen they absorb from the air?

Organisms use the oxygen they absorb from the air for their cells. The cells need this oxygen in order to carry out their functions.

even plants and most of the living organisms need oxygen

Do all organisms need air to survive?

All living organisms need water to survive, because they have cells. With air, not all living organisms need air. Some forms of bacteria do not need oxygen to live, and others can't stand oxygen.

Who needs oxygen?

Most living organisms need oxygen for aerobic respiration.

Why do organisms die when they don't have oxygen?

organisms need oxygen because if organism didnt they would mutate into non organisms and create virus called stilia

What is the name of an organism that requires oxygen?

Organisms which need oxygen are called aerobic organisms or aerobes. The oxygen is used in the process of respiration to release energy from food. Organisms which do not use oxygen in respiration are called anaerobic organisms or anaerobes. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerobic_organism

Does all life need oxygen to live?

Most Marine organisms require oxygen to survive. Most do not need to breathe air to do so as there is oxygen dissolved in water that can be absorbed. There are a few organism, the smallest ones, that are anaerobic and do not require oxygen. Other than single cell organisms. they are rare.
