Why Do People As Stupid Questions?

• That might be construed as presenting a personal judgment rather than a legitimate observation. What might seem "stupid" to one person could be meaningful to someone else.

• First off, if the person is serious there is NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION! There are many reasons why a person may ask what you consider a stupid question. The person is shy and trying to make small talk or, the person isn't into small talk. Some people just get nervous about talking on a one-to-one with another person. Of course, then there are some people that just don't think before they open their mouths. It's always wise to grit your teeth and be pleasant. You just never know why the person asked what you consider a stupid question in the first place. Also, the former poster gave a good answer in stating, that just because you feel it's a stupid question, it may well not be. Example: If you bumped into a scientist and he/she was talking about their work and you had a question or two, how would you like it if they considered your question stupid and not of importance. We generally ask questions to learn and if we all feared we would be asking stupid questions then we sure wouldn't learn much.

• Some people have different ways of figuring out ideas. They may understand the concept and that question will make it all click.

• They may find the question humorous, like "why don't cows have armpits"? Other times they may just be belligerent. It really depends.

• Maybe it's unfair or not nice of me to think of a question or answer as stupid, because the person writing the question or answer might be very young, like I'm guessing maybe 5-10 years old.Or there Fat. I don't know the age range of WikiAnswers users.
