When you exhale, or breathe out, the air coming out of your lungs is 4% to 5% carbon dioxide and 4% to 5% less oxygen than was inhaled (So, about 16% oxygen). You also breath out about 5% water vapor and other mentioned gases. If you're wondering why we can't just breath pure oxygen, it's because our reliance on this relatively small amount of oxygen can cause over activity or euphoria in pure or oxygen rich environments.
