Best Answer

Mitochondria are an energy supply for cells. For example, human and human fat cells only have a small amount of mitochondria as they do not move or do much. On the other hand, sperm cells have many mitochondria as they have to transport themselves through the vagina to the awaiting egg cell.

The mitochondrion is the "power house" of the cell --> it generates energy for the cell.

It takes sugars and breaks them down via oxidative phosphorylation and stores the energy in the form of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). Mitochondria have a double-membrane, cristae (surface is where the oxidative phophorilation occurs --> like little folds in organelle). All eukariotic cells have mitochondria. This includes plant cells.

they need it for energy, u see the chloroplast makes food for the plant, gluecose c6h12o6, then need to burn it to get energy.

mitochondria

Why muscle cells have more mitochondria than other kinds of eukaryotic cells have?

mitochondria supply the energy to the cells. Muscle cells require a lot of energy for contraction. Therefore muscle cells need a lot of mitochondria.

Do plant cells need a mitochondria?

yes, plant cells need mitochondrias too

Why do certain cells have more Mitochondria than others?

Some cells need more energy (and therefore more ATP). ATP is synthesizd in mitochondriacardiac muscle cells need to work continuously, so they have a large number of mitochondria.Source; Yahoo.com

What cells are expected to have more mitochondria?

the more active the cell is, the mitochondria it has. so therefore muscle cells have alot of mitochondria as compared to fat storing cells

What kind of cells might have a high number of mitochondria?

Muscle cellMetabolically very active cells have many mitochondria. Cardiac cells, kidney cells, sperms have many mitochondria

Do cells need mitochondria?

Most cells do. Multicellular organisms like humans need to create abundant amount of ATP, a feat that can only achieved with the help of mitochondria.

What animal cells have the least mitochondria?

Cells that need more amino acids

What produces the most energy the cells need to carry out its function?

mitochondria

Do muscle cells have more or less mitochondria than other animal cells?

Muscle cells have more mitochondria than other animal cells because the need more energy to preform their job, and mitochondria produce the energy for the cell.

Would you find a mitochondria in a dog?

Yes, all cells need mitochondria, even if only a few. Tissues are made of cells, and muscles and organs are made of tissues. Besides, how would we move if we did not have energy in our muscles?
