I have mild IBS and for me, painform cramping/gas are triggered by red wine and gin, but to my knowledge by no other types of alcohal. My grandfather once told my mother that he could not tolerate gin or red wine, so I figure this is inherited. A nurse told me I might no longer be producing an enzyme needed to help digest these substances. I used to not have this reaction when I was younger. It developed only in my 40s. It's too bad for me, as I like red wine much better than white wine.
