At my school, kids have lockers in their classrooms in 4th and 5th Grade, and then in 6th through 8th grade you get lockers in the hallway. i live in England and we don't have lockers :(
many schools have lockers which make it easy for kids to steal stuff over 75% of schools have lockers and over 75% of principals take stuff out of those lockers like all the kids electronics that they'll need after school and that's why they have them in their locker

Generally, there are lockers in middle school. They are usually around 2 feet tall and is a little bit less than a foot deep. They are great for storing your books however to successfully use one you probably need to keep it clean and organized.
School lockers are so small because they only need to fit a few books and other supplies into them. Schools also must keep lockers small due to lack of space in their overcrowded buildings. Each school may need hundreds of lockers for students.
School lockers have been around for years. They would have started as a and area for personal belongs, either a cubby hole or shelf. As time has past, the need for extra security has led to doors being needed to secure the possessions inside. This has eventually led to the lockers we know today.
You will need to contact a locksmith.
If you're talking about fitting lockers, my sons school had about 300 lockers installed and it took about two days to completely fit and install. If you asking how long each individual locker took to make i suppose it depends on the locker. The school used these lockers - http://www.action-storage.co.uk/Lockers/eXtreme-reg;-Plastic-Lockers/eXtreme%C2%AE-Plastic-Lockers/p-115-143-646/ which are made from plastic and don't need assembling. I imagine steel lockers take a bit longer to make up, but it can't be more than 5 minutes per locker.I hope this helps, and makes sense!
Lockers in school are used to store books and other supplies for school that you do not use at the time you are there. Then you go to the lockers to get what you need for your next class. In gyms for schools, they are used to store clothing and other accessories that are not allowed during gym class like phones, jewelry, and clothes that you change into when you are going to next period.
