Graffiti express underlying social and political messages and a whole genre of artistic expression is based upon spray paint graffiti styles. Within hip hop culture, graffiti has evolved alongside hip hop music, b-boying, and other elements.[3] Unrelated to hip-hop graffiti, gangs use their own form of graffiti to mark territory or to serve as an indicator of gang-related activities.

How do you graffiti?

You just do it. You can identify yourself with a style, which is what makes this artform so amazing. Everyone who does it brings something new to it. If you are going out to tag, make sure you don't work somebody else's neighborhood. It's disrespectful. Do not tag over a tag. Also, you don't just start tagging if you're not fast or creative enough. Practice at home on cardboard and get to know what you can do with a can. As for the person who answered this question the first time, it would be to your credit to give advice rather than try and diminish the strength of the person brave enough to ask it. For all we know, this question could have come from a 9 year old kid just wanting to learn. Teaching is a gift and it sounds like you have the knowledge. Share it. Google graffiti artists and see their different styles and have some inspiration, and look at a guy called Banksy, he is one of the, if not the, most famous and skilled graffiti artist in the world.

What is the difference between graffiti and graffiti art?

graffiti takes its name from Latin *graphīre to write . There are so many forms of it that just saying it is all graffiti is almost the same as saying any form of music is just noise. Is graffiti art? i would argue that by its definition it is. As far as saying one is breaking the law and the other is artwork , i believe that falls upon local laws not in the name itself. All forms of graffiti are forms of expression and that is by definition art . so your answer is no there is no difference between graffiti and graffiti art

What is the difference between Cave art and graffiti?

This is a complicated question, so here's an oversimplified answer. They are not related. This has nothing to do with the morals and ethics of art, but graffiti relates more to vandalizing and putting your name out for others to see. Many people tie graffiti and tagging together, while others see the two art forms as distinct- that is another issue entirely. This is oversimplifying what graffiti is and what graffiti artists stand for, but it can be looked at as a rebellious action. It is an action against authority and a movement of free expression. Whereas cave paintings are an ancient art form. It was not about rebelling against an establishment. It is thought to be a sacred practice that took place thousands of years ago. The only similarities they both have is that they are on walls. Other than that NOT THE SAME.

Is graffiti good?

Most people do not like graffiti. It defaces buildings and signs, costs billions every year in cleaning, re-painting, or replacing of windows, signs, etc., and is a public nuisance. Many people believe that graffiti is associated with gangs, drugs, and criminal acts, so they hate and fear what graffiti represents. In some cities, police departments regularly investigate the codes and symbols used in graffiti in order to help combat gang-related crimes. They don't remove the graffiti, but instead use it just like tourists would use a map and "city guide" to understand the goings-on within a city. Many crimes have been solved by police detectives who have studied the "language and symbols" of graffiti. However, in opposition to the millions of people who hate graffiti, some groups consider it "street art". Some cities' councils have thrown up their hands and ended up setting aside places where graffiti is permitted.

How many people hate graffiti?

There are no real studies, so no numbers have been collected. Most people, however, don't like graffiti because it messes up buildings and things and doesn't look good. There are a fewgraffiti artists who are talented enough so that their work does not look like a mess, but most of the graffiti is just sloppy and unpleasant looking.

Where is graffiti done?

Graffiti has been around for ages. They still have ancient graffiti around from the Roman times. I have also seen some stuff from old school China. As long as people have had opinions there has probably been graffiti so maybe you should look up where the first wall was created. People painted on cave walls, probably before there was even formalized language . There is also artwork inside and out side the pyramids . Check out the Caves at Lascaux in France for some examples .

How do you do graffiti lettering?

Is graffiti illegall?

I would assume so. It is considered destruction of property.... unless of course it is your own property and you don't mind it. Graffiti is illegal in most states and countries, but it depends on what kind of graffiti. For example, reverse graffiti causes police to be baffled on it's legal state. This is because reverse graffiti is created by washing dirt off of a wall, instead of adding on to it with a spray can. Also, the famous but mysterious graffitist Bansky is known for his graffiti which brings a world image and causes you to think. Bansky and related art is legal and sometimes even encouraged in some states.

What makes Jeff Koons so successful?

His art appeals to many people's taste = successful. Others find his art awful.

What time of day should you do graffiti?

Graffiti on public buildings, walls and so on - in fact, in any area that can be viewed by the public, is illegal and rightly so, as so much is unsightly, it can be offensive, and it costs a great deal of money to clean up - money that could be better spent on more productive or important things. If you must express yourself through 'art' then why not take up painting properly - join an art class or simply set up on your own, and if some of your work is sold (local art fairs/ eBay) you could end up having a very enjoyable hobby, give many people a great deal of pleasure rather than offense, and earn quite a bit of money for yourself too.

Why is graffiti used?

Well graffiti is used to show the artists views on the world, such as politics or global warming. But graffiti is usually done illegally on the side of buildings and so forth so that their message gets noticed.
