Because their mind is somewhere else. There is a lot of separation aside from physical. Your times are off, nothing is really constant for awhile. Be honest with them, when you are able to calm down. They may not even really understand how hurtful a simple comment can make, and what kind of domino effect can take place. Bring it up. Tell them how you feel.
