Answer
Domination/submission (and bdsm) by mutual consent as a form of genuinely playful sex, in both mild and energetic forms, is often a mystery. So I can't answer the question except to say that for some couples it spices things up. For some, it's just possible that part of it may be the feeling that good-natured domination/submission (d/s) is the last form of 'acceptable taboo'.
Many people who have experienced abuse in childhood enjoy BDSM as adults. This is often due to their psychological conditioning in which they have been taught to associate domination and pain as a form of love.
Another explanation that can be inferred from psychology is that some men resent, or are uncomfortable with the idea that a man must always be in control, must always initiate courtship and sex, and must always direct the sex act, with the woman submiting to him. Dominatrixes, when discussing their profession in numerous books and articles, describe their clients as mostly being CEOs, lawyers, executives, politicians or other "Type A" personalities. Being at the mercy of a dominatrix is a relief from the stress of decision-making, asserting authority, initiating new ideas and strategies and persuading clients and co-workers to accept these ideas. It can also be an interesting change, an opportunity to experience what it feels like under another person's authority. Some men like to be bossed around by women. Some men prefer it if the woman is submissive. As a guy I like it right in the middle. I don't liked to be told what to do all the time but once in a while is okay. At the same time I want my girlfriend to do what I want when I want it but I am not going to make her because it is her choice.
Being dominant or Submissive is not related to gender. Men are generally dominant and girls submissive. Some time the role is reversed. A relation of a dominant girl with a meek submissive man can be enjoyable for both
* men think that they need to! * they have a feeling that if your pretty cute or hot they will ask you out or dance with you just to get close.
* some just have needs

I don't know about a medical term for dominatrix, however, a disease can be contracted as a result of dominatrix tendencies. This is called Dominatrix Toxemia, or Tops Disease. Only a couple of websites exist on that subject. It is a mental disease, but from what I have read it is easily treatable with therapy, withdrawal, etc.
