For the same reasons that most people find any religion valid and helpful. It fills a need to be socially involved and it answers their questions. Few people really search continually for truth. Why do some people find Scientology to be a valid and helpful religion? Because there is a wonder in humanity, a need for asking why and learning more about ourselves. But in my opinion, L. Hubbard tells the reader that dianetics "...contains a therapeutic technique with which can be treated all inorganic mental ills and all organic psycho-somatic ills, with assurance of complete cure...." He claims that he has discovered the "single source of mental derangement
