Why do some people hate pop music?

I can't tell you, as I don't 'hate' pop music. I guess it's because most pop artists make mainstream songs that sounds similar to everything else you've heard. Most of the time, the lyrics are also literally a piece of crap. But of course, you can't just take all artists under one towel. I.e., Christina Aguilera is pop, and she writes good lyrics (not all, but most of them), and the melodies are most of the time very uniqe.
I guess that's a case of personal tastes.
