Saladin was famous because he was a great Muslim crusader who fought for Jerusalem. He had many good and bad points. Here they are:

Good Points:

Saladin freed some poor people for free. Saladin was merciful. A woman once came to him and said that her daughter was captured by his army. She cried and cried, so Saladin asked someone to find the women's daughter at one of the slave shops and bring the women's daughter. When they found the women's daughter they returned her to her mom. Saladin was generous. Saladin kept most of his promises but not all of them .

Bad Points:

He killed a solider. He broke some promises and Saladin lied a lot. He made people become slaves and he made many people become prisoners. He was late paying ransoms and late in giving back Christian prisoners and the Holy Cross.

His biggest enemy was Richard the Lionhearted. some info on him:

Good Points:

Richard's good points are that he was very careful and some people say that Richard the Lion hearted had lots of courage. He also kept some of his promises but not all of them, and was seen as a hero for the Christians as he went the third time to the crusades to recapture Jerusalem. Richard the lion hearted was a great warrior and he was very brave and fierce.

Bad Points:

Richard did not keep all of his promises. He executed many Muslim men even after paying their ransoms. He executed a lot of prisoners and he turned people into slaves. He broke his word. He was seldom in England and he was nearly always fighting in crusades. After Saladin paid money to free some Muslim prisoners Richard broke his promise and did not free any prisoners but he just executed more Muslim people.
