The main reason is that examination is believed to be the best measure of ones intellectual capacity; hence students cheat to prove it to others.
Secondly, when students are not prepared for the examination they may think they are forced to, so they can pass or get a better grade.
Also, if you are in an environment where everybody's cheating and teachers are indifferent, you kind of have to in order not to stay behind.
Some schools where the teachers are simply not efficient in spotting out cheaters encourages students to cheat. Since the like hood of being caught is slim.
Finally, some students simply surrender to peer pressure because they cannot bear standing out in the crowd.

- A student may cheat on a homework or classroom assignment simply because he is afraid of getting a low or failing grade; (most) students want to pass the class, so they cheat to get a good grade.
- A student may also cheat because of laziness; for example, "Hey, let me see last night's homework." - He chose not to do the homework & is going to copy another student's. Another example is plagiarizing an essay because the student waited until the night before it's due to write it.

∙ 12y ago- Not all students cheat when taking an exam and they study hard. However, there are a few that are too lazy to study or ask another student to help them with the more difficult subjects so they find it easier to cheat. The problem is, the person who cheated knows they did and eventually they won't feel that great pride in studying and getting good grades on their own. Anything worth having is worth working hard for.
