This is very easy, the sun is simply in a different position relative to yourself. You can create the same effect with with a flash light. Just point it straight down from two feet above an object and as you move it forward and backward the shadow of the object will change in relation to the position of the light source. Though in reality, it is the earth that is moving around the light source not the other way around, but it causes the same effect.
