The socs are smart, upperclass, and smart kids who come from wealthy families. And greasers are trouble-making and stupid punks. (That's how they're portrayed) So the socs kind of look down on the greasers and the fact that the greasers think they're so tough and cool makes the socs even angrier. Sometimes opposites DONT attract.
