Why do trees from north change color in the fall?

because they start to well kind of like swell up or die because winter is coming so they change color kind of like meat sometimes its red when you buy it but brown when you cook it

Maple trees are deciduous (lose their leaves in the fall). Many deciduous trees have very showy leaf color changes before dropping their leaves, and maples certainly do.

Tree are dying, caused by the cold weather that starts coming in fall, causing deciduous trees to change colors, then die, while the coniferous trees stay the same.
