Vines wrap around rainforest trees because there is very little light below the top of the rainforest. The very high tree canopy makes it so that not much light reaches the forest floor. Vines use trees as ladders to get high into the canopy to access light for their shoots to engage in photosynthesis and promote proper growth.

Vines grow upward and climb up other plants or trees while using the other plants or trees as support. Vines can continue growing upward and thus, continue to â??climbâ?? up trees with the use of rootlets or tendrils that grow from the vines. As the rootlets or tendrils are being used to attach to a tree and the vine continues to grow upwards, a winding or curling action takes place.

They grow on tree branches because they are exposed to more sunlight than they would be on the forest floor.

Think about it. And I spent an hour or two looking on like 20 different websites to get the information. And its just obvious, its a plant and it needs light to be able to proceed with photosynthesis and on the ground there isn't much sunlight.

Because there is a bunch of trees blocking the sunlight, and if it's on the tree branches then they are more exposed to the sunlight because there isn't like 10 layers of branches blocking it.

How is the forest floor different from the canopy?

The difference between a canopy and rainforest floor would be a canopy covers over the rest of the forest which allows a little bit of sun light like the rain forest floor because it only gets 2 percent of the sun's light umm... what else oh yeah!! trees are covered with small plants and appear to be tied togther with hundreds of vines and also rain forest floor has very little plant life and the area is covered with fallen leaves, seeds, dead flowers, and fruits and branches that decompose really quickly.
