Sun is the source of heat and light. Without the light the plants won't be able to grow meaning they would all die and without plants the herbavors would die and if the herbavors die then the carnivors and omnivors die. This leads up to nothing left on earth. It's called the circle of life and if one thing falls out the rest goes tumbeling after. Hope you understand now. :)

Actually some plants don't need the sun, and can grow without it :)

We depend on it for heat and it makes plants grow and if there are no plants the herbavoires die then the carnivores die etc.
