Alcohol will cause one to urinate more frequently because alcohol is a liquid, and must therefore be expelled from one's body as such.

Alcohol reduces secretion of ADH/Vasopresin, so less water is reabsorbed into the body from nephrons of kidney. This increases the volume of urine produced.

Your kidneys are made to filter out inpurities from your bloodstream. When they detect relevant amounts of alcohol, they kick into action and start pulling what they can outta your blood and sending that shiznit right over to your poison filter - you liver. If you imbibe anything that's not beneficial that goes into your blood, you would do the same thing. You filter it out faster, and you get rid of these impurities by peein them out. Alcohol is easily detectable in your body, so when you keep taking it in, your body keeps tryin to take it out.

What organ begins to produce more urine due to the short term effects of alcohol use?

When you drink alcohol, the posterior pituitary produces too little AntiDiuretic Hormone (ADH) when you drink alcohol. The function of ADH normally is to increase the water reabsorption from your collecting tubules in your kidney and back into your blood. Basically, ADH is an anti - diuretic (diuretic is something that increases the water concentration in your urine) so it normally decreases your urine output and in turn keeps your body well hydrated by bringing water back into your blood. When there is a decrease in ADH, less water is brought back into your blood and ends up going out of your kidneys, out to your bladder and your urine output increases.
