Why do you need liability insurance on land you do not use?

[Edit]

Liability insurance

Landowners are liable for what happens on their property. You're also liable for the actions of your tennant. Your tennant should carry General Liability and Lessor's Risk. If your tennant is using pesticides that are harmful you can be sued. If a trespasser hurts himself on your property you can be sued. Your tennant can even sue you. It is the same as a rental property, landlords still carry policies even though they do not occupy the property and may lease it to a property management company. Contact your local insurance broker for the rules in your state.
