Why should you teach Religious and Moral Education in The Primary school?

It is important that children have an understanding of the world and the different religious beliefs within it. Furthermore, children teachers teach may come from a range of different religious backgrounds and it is important that children have this understanding of other people's religious beliefs as well as their own.

In the US, we have strict rules about the separation of church and state in order to prevent discrimination against religion, like promoting a state religion to the detriment of all others. In private schools it is allowed, but not in public. Religious education should be taught by the parents.

How can you use multi-faith approach in teaching religious and moral education in primary school?
Religious and moral education are not necessarily identical, although they are of course related. In a multi-faith approach, you would choose several major faiths, probably including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and perhaps either ancient paganism or modern alternative religions, and allocate roughly equal time to teaching each. There is no requirement that any one religion should be taught first, and objectivity can be demonstrated by avoiding giving apparent priority to your own faith. You would probably introduce the syllabus by describing and comparing all the major religions to be covered and emphasising that rational people hold very different beliefs, or even do not have religious beliefs at all. When covering each faith you will try to be as neutral and objective as possible, neither proselytising one, nor disparaging another with remarks like 'myths', 'idols' or any suggestion that thinking people could not follow this religion. Your objective should be that people have learnt about different faiths but have not changed their views as to which faith, if any, is actually true. In moral education you should emphasise that all religions teach essentially the same great moral truths. Ethical behaviour should be taught because it is the right thing to do. This approach is more likely to result in life-long commitment to ethics than a religion-based approach, which does not seem to work as well. Also avoid a heavy emphasis on moral issues that have religion at their core.

In my opinion, no. There should be the choice of religious freedom worldwide, in every country. Not many people get to experience this freedom, especially in the Islamic world.

Why don't French schools have RE lessons?
Religious Education is not taught in French schools since the beginning of the 20th century, when state and church were officially separated. Since then, religious education is a private and familial matter but was taken out of the school curriculum. The rationale is that no religion should be favoured by the state, and that the French nation should be secular. Private schools may teach religious education, but no school can make it compulsory, or select its students in a particular faith (a Muslim may apply to a Catholic school and vice-versa) Some cultural knowledge about the customs of all faiths is taught in high school, but this is done to foster some understanding between communities.

Not only should athletes go to school, here's a strange thought, school should be primary to sports. That is, if they are not able to keep up with the work load of academia, they should not be permitted to participate in sports, that is they should not be permitted to play. Advocating for them to be removed from the team is counter productive. Sports should be the incentive it is to get students into school. School still needs to remain the most important part of the equation.
