After the victorious Seven Years' War, fought from 1756 to 1763, Great Britain became the most powerful maritime power all over the world. The defeated maritime powers, that is: France, Holland and Spain saw the supporting of the American Colonists in their conflict against Great Britain as an excellent opportunity to recover their prestige , restore their partly lost colonial empires and cut down the British predominance in the Maritime trade. They set up a coalition, led by France, which came into the war on the side of the Colonists, on February 6,1778, about four month after the decisive American victory at the Battle of Saratoga.

Why did colonists expect parliament to repeal the intolerable acts and what did parliament do instead?

The colonists expected Great Britain to repeal the intolerable acts because the colonists said that they had no representatives in congress. Taxation without representation is unfair, they declared. The tea tax was the next tax put upon the colonists by the British....This, in turn, led to the Boston Tea Party.

What were some of the ways colonists protested the Britain taxes?

Another way instead of the Boston Tea Party that colonists might have done to protest the Tea Act was not buying the British tea. If many colonists didn't buy tea from Britain or just stop drinking it then the British wouldn't be making a profit from that sale and this would anger them because they need money. Maybe the British would lower the prices or make a compromise with the colonies.

How did American and french revolution affect the colonists in the Americas?

The American Revolution made them statesmen instead of colonists. And the French Revolution didn't greatly affect the population of America, seeing as the US never got involved. And Canada had already been taken over by Britain.
