Why do young men prefer older women?

From an evolutionary psychology standpoint, men are attracted to young, fertile women because they have a much higher chance of producing a healthy child and being able to care for that child until it is able to survive and live on it's own.

Men are attracted to young girls probably because they do not come with the excess baggage of a mature woman. They are a decadence, if you will. Fresh and new. It's one of the oldest sins comitted in the newest way. They have no wrinkles and they don't sag in any way shape or form. These men are typically immature emmotionally. They may not feel, physically, like they're the cronological age that they actually are. They may also have a very high sex drive as they did when they were the age of the girls they are looking at. They could also be addicted to pornography and continue to degregate their search for more and more unique forms of sexual content with no intention of acting out those fantasies. I'm sure most, if not all, men who were shown pictures of a pretty 15 or 16 year old girl would get aroused. The problem lies in the quantity of and/or the acting out of these fantasies. Do you want to take a chance with a man who has a preoccupation with pubescant girls. Be conservative on this one...Just play it safe and stay away.

Sometimes men like younger women because women of their age group don't seen appeling.

Much of this is Biology but some of it could be cultural. Its not just men who like younger women most women like older men. I don't mean that a 14 year old girl wants an 85 year old man (but I have seen that happen)! Usually men like a woman who is a few years younger and most women like a man that is a few years older. Of course there are exceptions to this rule. My brother in law likes older women, my sister is 5 years older then him.

My theory is that its biology, pure and simple. In the old says when only 1 in 5 babies grew old enough to have babies and many people didn't live more then 45 - 50 it was necessary for the survival of the human race. Younger women are more likely to bring a child to term and can have more children then older women. So, men are biologically attracted to younger females. The males who lived to be 45- 50 in those days were, as a rule healthier, stronger and smarter then the ones who didn't.. So I believe women are attracted to them because they have the best DNA to pass down to there children. Of course in the modern world this isn't so true anymore but the instincts survive. Also, women tend to be attracted to men for financial security and older men usually are more financially secure.

to add to this: It is mother nature to have babies, so younger women can have babies, so it is natural instinct for men to want to protect and be with child bearing age women. Then there is another thing, some men have not gone beyond being superficial and judging women on appearances and younger women are more attractive to some superficial men.

Answer Not all men prefer much younger women but a lot do and there are many reasons for this and some of those reasons could be as follows. Younger women want more sex, more often. Younger women don't have saggy breasts, but too they haven't brought children into the world either or breast fed. Younger women tend to be more adventurous, while older women can be lazy at times and then there are men who for no good reason other than they can get younger women to go to bed with them, look for these kinds of women.

Older men date younger women for several reasons. It makes them feel young and feeds into their ego. They also date younger women because they think that it is expected of them to date younger. A woman who is a man's peer has more expectations from the man, may have equal/more education, has life experience, may earn more or equal in income, and may have children.
