Now you have me playing with the zipper on my jacket so that I can observe for myself, ha ha! :)

I'm no true expert, but it seems to me that its the way the zipper teeth push through the two top holes on the zipper slider that makes the sound, i guess the edges of the openings rub up against the row of zipper teeth to kind of "vibrate" ? Hope I was of help.
