Because the high sugar content in regular coke makes it more dense. Diet sodas in general are less dense because the artificial sweetener used is much much sweeter than sugar, and so it is not necessary to add nearly as much (about 10 times less). So diet sodas are less dense than regular soda, and a can of Diet Soda will float in water but not regular.
In short, the density of the diet soda is less than 1 gram per cubic centimeter, so it will float. The density of the regular soda is greater than 1 gram per cubic centimeter, so it sinks.
Density equals mass divided by volume, so we know that there must be a difference in mass or volume between the cans. There are three components to the unit: the can, the air inside and the soda itself. First let's talk about the parts that are the same. Both units have identical cans, and have the same volume and amount of air inside with the soda. The can, which is made of aluminum, would sink if you filled it completely with water. However, the cans filled with soda have enough air inside (called headspace) to offset the mass of the can and the liquid.
But what is the difference between the regular and diet drinks? The mass of the regular soda is greater because of the weight of the sugar, about 33 grams. Diet soda uses a very small amount of artificial sweetener and no sugar, giving it a lower mass. That means that the density of the regular soda will be higher and it will sink.
because it's diet it's diet so it's more healthy haven't you heard fat people don't float
Diet pepsi has less sugar and that's why it floats. Pepsi has more sugar which weighs it down to the bottom at room temperature water.
because of the sugar
Yes
sure i guess if theres no whole in the ball hahhhahahahah
only diet will because of the lack of sugar ...jsf;lsdj flds
if you toss a can of pepsi in a tank of water it will sink. the higher density is attributed to the 40 something grams of sugar they have dissolved in pepsi
No, no US coin is light enough to float when dropped in water.
markers float because they are less weight. and it doesnt have metle on it.
A friend dropped hers into the lake the other day. It most certainly did not float.
Depends on what they're dropped into. Water - no. But drop them into something that's denser than aluminium and they will float.

wow that's sad a boat that can float is any tye of boat that doesnt have a hole in it
i think that vol of water underneath the needle when it is dropped on water parallely is more which prevents the needle from sinking.
