Reasons Nessie stays in Lake
Though there is no scientific proof, only sightings by observers, it's probably what Nessie is meant to do. It's Nessie's niche.
Many believe that Nessie is a prehistoric aquatic creature and therefore is bound to the water due to physical constraints and the inability to survive on land. Also, the stream that runs into the lake is presumed to be too shallow for her to follow out to open sea.
