Check your fuel pump/fuel filter. On the newer fuel injected cars/trucks a restricted fuel filter will allow the engine to perform properly until a fuel demand limitation is reached. Operation may be normal at 60mph and then feel like it has hit a wall at 65mph when the fuel delivery is not sufficient for engine operation at the increased load. Acceleration is the same condicition low fuel flow due to the blocked filter not allowing full fuel flow to the engine.
Could be a faulty spark plug or spark plug wire.
check the soleinoid
you need the fast idle adjusted on the engine you may have idle set where it sounds fine in idle but not high enuff when dropped in gear.
My 1998 Park Avenue would not idle. I cleaned the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) and the cavity it fits into with carb cleaner. Now it works fine. My 1998 Park Avenue would not idle. I cleaned the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) and the cavity it fits into with carb cleaner. Now it works fine.
the tranny light comes on, because the idle speed or timing need to be adjusted.
I just bought a 79 Chevy with the 5.7 350 in it..it was doing the same thing next time you put gas in it get some sort of additive like carb cleaner and put it in the gas then try and blow it out a little I drove mine about 100 miles when I bought it and it seems to be just fine now
You need a tune up....Changing plugs and wires makes the difference.
carb problems, adjust the idle screw and see if that helps
Sounds like you have a fuel related problem. Most likely too high of a mixture of gas compared to air. When you are accelerating the extra gas is needed to speed up but when you slow down to lower rpm`s the extra is choking out the carb. Check your tailpipe and see if there is a strong smell of gas and if it is sooty. If it is too rich your mixture will need to be set on your carb.
I have 91 chevy k1500, It does this, Sometimes it will idle a few minutes, then jump to high idle and check engine light comes on, And sometimes its as soon as i start the engine... I was told it was a vacum leak, But im no mechanic
stopped up fuel filter or poor fuel delivery
If it drives fine but dies without warning while slowing down I'd bet on ICM.
