One of your wheel sensors are shot or your vss. Go to a repair shop and have them read the codes to see which one it is. The wheel sensors are cheap and easy to replace!
Start with the vehicle speed sensor the feeds the speedometer and odometer. Also look at the Brake/Speedometer problem associated with the Windstar recall for a leaking brake pressure switch
I would suspect the vehicle speed sensorSee "Related Questions" below for more
That's your LOW tire pressure warning light in a 2002 Ford Windstar
controls speedometer
The speed control device or speed sensor on a 1995 Ford Windstar is located on the transmission. It is a plug in just behind the bell housing.
on my windstar speedo only worked when it wanted to I replaced the speedo head 2 years later still works great
Look at your speedometer...
pickup speedometer does not register from a cold start. Shifting lurches and then all evens out after about 30 mph
on top of the transmission
Either that, or the speedometer cable went bad.
I believe that 1995 was the last year for a conventional speedometer cable on a Ford Explorer , and then Ford went to an electronic speedometer with a vehicle speed sensor
I don't believe it has one , the Ford Explorers 1996 and newer models don't have a conventional speedometer cable , they have an electronic speedometer and a vehicle speed sensor ( VSS )
