I took my jimmy to a transmission shop, they diagnosed it and said the transmission was fine, but that an electronic piece that was some kind of cap was bad and it caused the tranny to not shift properly. I cannot remember the name of the part, I know that i looked it up right after that and found it in the repair manual, and it looked almost like a distributor but with an electronic module and several wires. Now a year later I want to actually fix mine and cannot remember what the part was...
It is possible. You need to check the codes to know for sure.
Your car has an electronically controlled transmission. The computer will trip the Check Engine light when a problem is detected in the transmission. First check the fluid level as outlined in your owner's manual. Do Not Overfill!!!! If the fluid level is OK, then take it to a transmission expert and have it looked at.
Is there a check engine light or service engine soon light on? Always check fluid level first, but most problems with transmission are internal to the transmission. Some engine malfunctions can cause shift errors
CAR WONT START Transmission may not shift. Check engine light could be on.
the Toyota dealer said that my e.c.u. ( that tells the transmission when to shift) had gone out. Thank God it was warranted.
The transmission will not shift properly if you try to disable the odometer. The check engine light and abs light will also come on.
If it is not shifting and the check engine light is on, then the trans computer has detected a malfunction and set a code. You need to have the code checked to know what to diagnose.
A bad knock sensor would illuminate the check engine light and allow the engine to ping (spark knock). The engine doesn't shift, the transmission shifts.
If the check engine light is or has illuminated recently, start with having the codes pulled.
No. It may shift hard or late, but the light will not go on. Ask your local auto parts store to scan the code(s) from your vehicle. The code(s) will help lead you to the reason the check engine light is on.
Does it shift out of Park?If not check stop light fuse - shift interlock and stop lights are a common circuit If it does shift out of Park then shift linkage may need adjustment Try turning key to first position (Unlock) without engine running and the shift to neutral to start vehicle and then shift to Drive
bad dpfe sensor...find it change it...
