You have to have their anal glands removed. They smell foul because they fill up and then release the foul smelling odour in and around the anus.
They don't need the glands anymore as they have evolved to eat a softer diet. The liquid excreted from the glands helped the passage of the bones of the animals they would eat in the wild.
So get them removed by your vet.
