Why does a physician need to know math?

Answer:
For the most part, the reason physicians need to take difficult math courses is to make sure they can handle the stress involved. If they can't handle a simple calculus class, what chance do they have in a hospital when peoples lives are on the line?

As a physician, I use math every day in my practice. It may not be terribly high level math, mostly dosage and volume calculations, converting weight between pounds and kilograms, etc, math is an integral part of my day to day life.
