Chemotherapy hair loss is called Alopecia. Drugs which are used during chemotherapy are very powerful that directly attack cancerous cell. The problem is that healthy, normal cells get killed, too. Hair follicles are vulnerable cells that tend to die off during chemo, although they do regrow after chemotherapy ends.

Hair loss is not confined to the scalp during chemotherapy. Reactions to chemotherapy differ just as cancers and people differ. My teenage son lost all of his hair during chemo: his scalp, eyebrows, facial hair, pubic hair, leg hair, back hair...everywhere! When his hair grew back in fully, the hair on his scalp was very soft like when he was a baby.

Chemotherapy kills all cells that divide rapidly not just cancer cells. Some healthy cells divide rapidly and tend to be damaged in the process. Healthy cells that divide rapidly include blood cells, stomach and bowels, hair and lining of your mouth. This leads to common side effects, such as hair loss and nausea. Other common side effects include anemia, mouth sores and low white and red blood cell counts.

Hair loss generally starts within 2-3 weeks of the treatment and it depends on the medicine or combination of medicines used because all chemotherapy drugs don't cause hair loss.

Hair loss during Chemotherapy treatment is also known as 'Alopecia'. The reason you lose your hair during Chemotherapy treatment is because your hair follicles are fast growing cells, and Chemotherapy damages fast growing cells. Not all Chemotherapy treatment causes hair loss. Some just cause the hair to thin, while others result in dramatic hair loss. Occasionally, some people lose their hair when it is not expected too during treatment, while others do not lose their hair when it is expected too.

What is the surgery for hair loss?

Hair transplantation is the main surgery for hair loss, which involves removing a narrow strip of hair-bearing scalp from the back of the head and using it to fill an area with thin or no hair. Most hair transplants are performed in the doctor's office under local anesthesia. To transplant hair, the surgeon first cleans the scalp, then injects an anesthetic to numb the area where a 3- to 4-inch strip of scalp will be removed. After removing the strip of scalp with a scalpel, the surgeon sets it aside and sews the scalp closed. This area is immediately hidden by the hair around it. southdelhicosmeticclinic.net
