The reaction of Chlorine and water produces complex. When Chlorine gas reacts with water, hydrochloric acid and hypochlorous acid are formed. The following equation illustrates the reaction: Cl2 (g) + H2O (l) --> HClO (aq) + HCl (aq) The hydrochloric acid produced will turn the litmus paper red; however, the hypochlorous acid, HClO, would then bleach the litmus paper till pure white colour, which explains why Chlorine gas will bleach damp (red or blue) litmus paper. Hypochlorous acid has an acidity of pH value of ±7.53. It has a unique bleaching nature that industrialists use it for bleaching purposes. This explains why the litmus paper would then be bleached later on, after turning red. Hence, Chlorine gas is not acidic; it is corrosive. Just that it reacts with water to produce acids.
somone answer this question please but for all da people studying for a chem test i'll give u some entertainment. I'm going to tell u a story.
I was walking down the street and this bus driver drove past and he had all these kids in his bus. So I was like, he either is driving a kids home from school or some s*** is going down. I hopped on this Grandma's bike, except I had to knock her off because it was her bike but I had to keep hitting her on the head because she was trying to get up and then I curb stomped her she called me a thug and then I stabbed her. I was chasing the bus and then a giant angry watermelon appeared but as my father told me not long ago that watermelons weaknesses are ants and dying. Seeing as there were no ants I killed it. Then I caught up to the bus. I hopped on and I brutally murdered everyone on the bus except for everyone. I sat down and the bus took me home. But what I learnt that day was that the bus driver did not molest anyone and that when you're chasing after a bus because u think some cereal sh** is going down do not brutally murder the first person you see.
* These events did not actually happen. Do not attempt to do any of these things described. If you like my work make sure that the people who change the answers to the proper answer do not change this answer to the proper answer. If u catch my drift.

Chlorine gas turn the damp blue litmus paper red first, before "bleaching it"
Bluey, green purple
Blue litmus paper turns into red.
Blue litmus paper turns RED in an acid. Red litmus paper turns BLUE in a base.
it turns into red colour
this is a fun expierement cuz it will turn the blue litmus paper into red litmus paper!
red litmus paper turns blue under alkaline conditions.
Bleach turns litmus paper blue because it is a base (pH levels 12-14)
Blue litmus paper turns into red.
Blue litmus paper turns RED in an acid. Red litmus paper turns BLUE in a base.
Nothing particularly happens.
it turns into red colour
this is a fun expierement cuz it will turn the blue litmus paper into red litmus paper!
It would blow up!!!! Don't do it!!!!!
Being that coffee is acidic litmus paper should turn reddish
red litmus paper turns blue under alkaline conditions.
white
The litmus paper will turn red.
Depends on the litmus paper. Red litmus will not turn but blue litmus will turn redish pink.
