Why does dental insurance not cover antibiotics?

[Edit]

Answer

Because antibiotics are "prescription drugs". Just as your medical insurance won't cover a root canal, or disability insurance won't cover a fire in your house! If you don't have prescription drug coverage included in your insurance, there are alternatives which you can purchase yourself. Some are an excellent deal, some not. Shop around on the net.
