You need an ignition switch..Very common for these cars. If you hooked up a scan tool it would read codes b12960 and b3033. The switch has moisture in it and requires replacing and relearning the security I own a 2003 Ion, when the car will not start, wait 10-15 minutes, and it will start. I have ben going through this for some time now, it has worked every time. Once it does it , it won't do it for some time, then it will happen again.
Remove battery cover and connect charger to side post battery.
The battery that fits in a 2003 Saturn L300 is 10 and 3/4 inches in length. The width of the battery is 6 and 7/8 inches and the height is 7 and 1/4 inches. The battery needs to be a 12 volt battery that is a side post battery.
In the trunk by the right tail light.

There is a relay inside the fuse box that is adjacent to the battery.
in the trunk on the right side near the spare, if you need to jump start the car, there is a post in the front engine compartment that easily lets you connect your wires to it.
There is a fuse box under the hood, next to the battery. The fan relay is in there.

When you open the hood, there's a black rectangular box about the width of a battery. This is just a protection cover. Remove the 3 screws, lift the cover and you will see the battery.
The battery seems to be a problem on this vehicle. A recharge could fix the issue but a new battery may be necessary.
Remove the cover on the fuse box by pressing the tabs on either side, then find the remote positive terminal. Attach your red jumper cable to the terminal and the +ve terminal of the charged battery and the black cable to the -ve terminal of the charged battery and the -ve battery terminal or the chassis of the car to be jumped.
The fuse box is located under the hood on the drivers side just behind the battery
