Why does my pokemon ruby game delete itself?

In: Pokemon Ruby Sapphire and Emerald

It's most likely a glitch. You may need to return it or get a new copy. If the other games you own work on the portable console (gameboy etc.) then it is most likely a problem with the game itself. However it does stink to have to redo the things you've already accoplished.
