My left foot gets mildly swollen on top of the foot. It is generally worst at the end of the day. The medications that I take daily are: Atenonol 25 mgs and Diovan HCT 12.5 mgs. I take Tylenol PM on an average of 5 days a week. I eat healthy, yet I have 35 extra punds that I have a hard time shedding. I am 59 yrs old and have a family history of CVA; Myocardial Infarction and Atrial Fibrillation. Please advice.

∙ 9y agoFoot swelling can be caused by a variety of illnesses and conditions. Diabetes, phlebitis, and a twisted ankle are some of the reasons. A doctor will need to evaluate and treat the foot swelling.

∙ 12y agoThe most likely reason I could think of that someone would have unilateral foot swelling would be a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). This happens when a blood clot forms in one of the veins of you leg. This can easily turn into a life threatening issue because the clot can break off and travel to the lungs, heart, or brain causing sever problems, the worst of which would be death. If you or someone you know are experiencing this I would advise you to get to a doctor as soon as possible.
