Follicles in the ovary is stimulated by FSH and so in response it grows and secretes oestrogen. this oestrogen increases rapidly and in turn stimulates the growth of the uterine lining causing it to become thicker n filled with blood vessels.this rapid increase in estrogen causes a massive surge of LH. This surge causes ovulation which is the release of the ovum from the follicle.after ovulation, the follicle undergoes rapid changes and is then called a corpus luteum which secretes progesterone in response to luteinising hormone stimulation. progesterone and oestrogen together causes a further thickening of the uterine lining preparing thee uterus for pregnancy.
I may not be a doctor or so but i believe it has something to do with that when a woman is pregnant she needs to have the uterus thick otherwise the fetus would be "flushed" out at the time of the next period.
So basically it becomes thick so it can sustain a baby in there. The progesteron level goes up and the oestrogen goes down so that there will be no more periods during pregnancy.
someone please correct me if I'm wrong
It's because when an egg is let out, the body prepares for the egg to be fertilized by a sperm, so it begins to swell and later if the eggs not fertilized the eg recedes and skin sheds and comes out as blood and other fluids or a period.
Your uterus is getting an environment ready for a baby.
the lining of the uterus thickens,
The lining of the uterus thickens because it goes into a protective mode. This is to protect the egg should it become fertilized. Sometimes this can cause cramping during the menstrual cycle.
When a woman ovulates, the lining of the uterus thickens to prepare for the zygote and when it's not fertilized the lining of the uterus breaks down and the egg and lining leaves the uterus by bleeding.
The blood lining of the uterus gradually thickens during a woman's menstrual cycle in order to be prepared to receive the fertilized egg. This lining will shed during the menstrual period if no fertilized egg has implanted.
Premenstrually the lining thickens and is later shed if there is no fertilized egg to implant into the lining. A hormonal imbalance, infection or endometriosis can all cause a thickening of the lining, irregularly during your cycle.
the uterus lining thickens ready for the egg to be fertilised . if the egg is not fertilised then it will pass through the vagina as blood (period).
The uterus is preparing for the possible fetus.
The Uterus
hormone that maintains the lining of the uterus?
The lining of the uterus is what denigrates when your egg isn't fertilized and you get your period.
The lining of the uterus serves as a protection for the growing fetus.
Cramps are caused by the uterus to expel its lining.
