I disagree. Ferrets for Dummies, as well as a number of other sources say it's a normal, if somewhat disgusting, habit. If the ferret had diabetes, I might think it's possible due to spilling of sugar into the urine, but diabetes is very rare in ferrets. Where did the person who posted above get this information? Information was derived from the Ferret Health List (FHL) Yahoo groups

∙ 14y agoDogs like humans have all different taste receptors in their tongues. Some have more bitter receptors and will be attracted to that taste. Some salty receptors. Dog urine can be bitter or salty. Either way it is unhealthy and not to be encouraged.
