Why doesn't Answers.com control the quality of answers posted on WikiAnswers?

∙ 13y agoThe quality of answers on WikiAnswers is actually improving very heavily. With more and more users coming onto the best Q&A site in the world, the quality of answers submitted have been overwhelmingly outstanding. Unfortunately, with more users participating comes more vandals. In these cases, the answers are not of great quality at all, but with the help of our Supervisors, they are removed as quickly as possible.
Because some people are too busy asking questions and not answering them. Other people who do answer them don't take time and they write a sentence or two. Some people actually take time on answers.

Yes, people change answers on WikiAnswers all of the time. It is to better the quality of the answer. So, yes, it is completely true.

I do not use Answerbag in addition to WikiAnswers. Answerbag is much like Yahoo! Answers, and has the same quality flaws as Yahoo! Answers. The answers are as-is, while WikiAnswers has an answer being worked on by hundreds of contributors until the answer is perfect.

How are answers vetted on wikianswers?
Answers are vetted by Supervisors. They go onto a special page which has all the recent answers so they can approve the answers and catch out vandalism. They can also mark quality by deciding whether an answer is acceptable, good or excellent.

Many thousands of people contribute to WikiAnswers and Answers every day. Each person has different levels of spelling, grammar, and knowledge. So we have many quality answers, though some might be say you say rubbish.

All you see here is questions where are the answers?
WikiAnswers is a website in progress still, as many questions are asked but a third or less get answered. WikiAnswers thrives on contributors to answer questions and make the site better. These volunteer contributors put hundreds of hours in for WikiAnswers to answer questions to improve the overall quality of the site. If you know the answer to a question, answer it. The answers do not automatically pop up here and appear from thin air - they have to get here some how. This answer misses the point. Or at least many of us cannot find tne answers. Questions that have answers do not show the answers. Why not?
Do spellings in questions get corrected if spelled wrong on wikianswers?
Yes, corrections are made to questions and answers when a supervisor, contributor, SPA etc., finds something that is incorrectly spelled. Everyone does their best to contribute and help make the quality of WikiAnswers better.
